Snowboarding in Canada
Yesterday we all geared up and went snowboarding. It was my first time so I kissed the ice more than a few times, but I had a blast!
Scott pulled off some really good camera trickery to make some of the photos look like I was burning up the slopes, but in reality I spent most of the trip ass to ice..heh.
It was great to relax for a while and escape the mass geekery we have going on in the office.

Beautifully simple issue tracking and project management. With a beautiful Mac-like interface, email and subversion integration, Lighthouse is the perfect project management tool. We took the suck out of issue tracking.

DoubleClick and Define using Apple Dictionary
var selection; if(window.getSelection) selection = window.getSelection(); else if(document.selection) selection = document.selection.createRange(); document.observe("dblclick", function() { if(navigator.userAgent.include("Macintosh")) { location.href = "dict://" + selection; } });A quick (and probably dirty) Prototype-based hack allowing Mac users to get the definition of any word by double clicking it.

The first day is murder. If you can do it three days in a row you’ll be a convert. If you just go one it’ll be all the suffering without much reward.
My #1 secret: Rollerblade (brand) kneepads. Being able to comfortably drop to your knees is invaluable. Put them under your pants and no one will know you’re smarter than they are.
I did a fair job actually. We are going again Thursday, hopefully I can make it all the way down the slope without swallowing any ice ;-).
You have to make your body do things it doesn’t naturally want to do like lean forward speeding down a hill to center your weight.
First day is usually pretty rough, as far as snowboarding is concerned. Your 2nd or 3rd time out will probably be even more fun than your first. It’s amazing how quickly and steadily you are able to improve.
